USA Today posts its Reader’s Choice Top10 lists for a wide variety of things. Recently the publication is highlighting “2020 has become the year of the road trip, with more and more Americans choosing to explore America the Beautiful by car or RV.” One of the categories is “Best State Parks for RVers”. Two of our great Hill Country state parks have been nominated, Garner State Park and Inks Lake State Park. Another category, “Best Glamping Resort”, has Sinya on Lone Man Creek in Wimberley currently ranked #8.

Earlier this month, I wrote a blog post about how the RV business has boomed due to the pandemic and how Hill Country businesses should adjust their marketing strategy. In years past, RVers were typically retired folks on fixed income, but demographics are changing as younger families with more disposable income get into this lifestyle.

Glamping or “glamorous camping” is another trend that has been increasing for the last few years, but has gained much more steam due to the pandemic. According to this article, Jellystone Park’s reservations are up double digits in 2020. Jellystone Park is North America’s leading family camping, glamping and entertainment chain, with more than 75 franchised locations in North America. There are three parks located right here in the Texas Hill Country.

Understanding that COVID-19 has changed consumer behavior is crucial to surviving the pandemic. I encourage everyone to click on the Top10 links above and vote for our state parks and Sinya on Lone Man Creek. Making the Top10 list for any category is great publicity for the wonderful region that we call home.
